“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4:2-6, NIV).
In Paul’s instructions to the Colossians I find three things that will lead the church in any community to have an effective ministry. I know this is an unnecessary reminder, but the church is people who have committed their life to Jesus.
“Devote yourselves to prayer.”
“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders.”
“Let your conversation be always full of grace.”
These three actions on the part of each of us will lead to the effectiveness of all of us. I am really glad God is allowing me to serve where these actions are the norm of behavior. I pray that God will continue to use each of us effectively for his glory.
