Connect with Others
We value relationships that last. We understand “church” to be a shared adventure among believers learning to be as committed to each other as Jesus is to us. One key to long-term relationships is found in Philippians 2:3-4: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. 4Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others (CSB). Small groups are the most effective place for building relationships that last. Sunday School is our primary approach to small groups. The best of First Baptist is found in the connections made in Sunday School.
Adult Classes
Sunday School at Night
Leader – Terrie Shipman
We are a mixed age group meeting from 5-6pm on Sunday evenings. We are reading, discussing and applying the Bible. We use only the Bible and have no other book. There are between 8 and 12 who attend and most recently we’ve been studying the book of Amos.
F.I.S.H. (Friends in Service to Him) Class
Leader – Roger Bancroft
Friends seeking spiritual growth through small group discussion and application of scriptural truths. Our smaller class size (15 average) is beneficial for those who like to participate in discussion. New perspectives welcomed.
W.O.W. (Women in the Word) Class
Leaders – Lois East & Celia Harmon
An eclectic group of mixed-age women engaged in a variety of topical Bible studies. Various individuals take the lead in teaching. Some studies are video-driven. Emphasis is placed on creating community within the class.
Seekers
Leader – Kevin Sullivan
This is a mixed age class (teens to older adults) that studies Scripture in-depth. Studies include going through a book of the bible verse by verse, or going in-depth on a certain topic. Other biblical references (Old Testament and New Testament) are used to help with interpretation and life application. Class provides and serves meals at the Henry County Rescue Mission once a month.
