Memorial Day is for me the most emotional of the non-religious holidays we celebrate. Independence Day we celebrate freedom. Memorial Day reminds us of the cost of freedom. Many have given life and limb for the freedom we enjoy. Many more have served to preserve the way of life I appreciate. Currently American military men and women are diligently securing freedom for others and us.
Lee Greenwood says it well:
I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
Those of us who value freedom and appreciate the men and women who serve to preserve it must continue in prayer for military personnel around the world. We stand in intercession for those who are standing for freedom. Pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual protection for those who are protecting us. Fervently pray for the salvation of any who have not yet confessed Jesus as Lord.
