“Abundance” usually causes us to think of more physical stuff. But today I am thinking of the things we need to grow spiritually and build up God’s kingdom. We measure physical stuff by quantity. Spiritual “stuff” can only be measured in quality. The idea of abundance is to increase, to undergo change, to experience more and more.

I recently read the lyrics of Oceans (Where Feet May Fail), recorded by Hillsong United, and was particularly drawn to the words of the bridge:

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders

Let me walk upon the waters wherever You would call me

Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander

And my faith will be made stronger

In the presence of my Saviour.”[1]

My immediate response was, “I want more trust.” I want to learn trust without borders. I want to walk wherever He calls. I want to go where only the Spirit can lead. I want faith made stronger in the presence of Jesus. I want more of things that make a forever difference in me! I hope you want more too.

I hope you have moments when you want to explore the uncharted waters of life with Jesus going where you have not been. I pray for those kind of moments to occur often in my life and yours. I long for us (the church) to experience mercy, peace, and love in abundance (Jude 2).

Jesus said, “I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance” (John 10:10, HCSB).

I am really glad that God has chosen for me the opportunity to be your Pastor, you are the best!
