On December 27, 2011 I wrote: “As we launch into 2012 what I want for you is that you would see yourself in Christ as God sees you. The word of the LORD through Zephaniah the prophet helps us understand how God views those who faithfully follow him. “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” (Zep 3:17, NIV84).”
“It seems clear that God delights in those whom he has redeemed. God sinks into contemplations of love over those who were once far from him because of sin and he bursts into song over you. God’s love for us is utterly amazing and my prayer for you is that in 2012 you will come to see yourself as the delight of God, that you will experience the quieting power of God’s redeeming love, and that you will have moments when you hear God singing over you.”
I would love to hear your stories of how you experienced the quieting power of God’s redeeming love and heard him singing over you. Write your reflection and pass me a note on Sunday or send it to me in an email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I continue to pray that you will see yourself as God sees you; one in whom the Lord delights. I am really glad I have the privilege of being the pastor of those in whom the Lord delights.
